There are regular trains along the Penzance/Plymouth to Glasgow/Dundee main line.  These usually travel through Bristol if coming from a northerly direction, and Exeter if coming from the South.

Buses to Norton Fitzwarren leave from a stop opposite Taunton Train Station.  The closest stop to the Somerset Heritage Centre is at the Cross Keys pub on the Minehead road. For more information, please see the Buses of Somerset website.

At the Cross Keys, take the footpath leading off the main road to the left, towards the newly built houses; this will bring you to the Langford Mead estate.  At the end of the footpath turn right towards a roundabout.  At the roundabout turn left.

From there, you will be able to see the Somerset Heritage Centre which is situated between Bookers and West County Feeds.  The bus journey will take around fifteen minutes, and the walk from the bus stop should take about ten minutes.

The Somerset Heritage Centre is around a 45 minute walk from the Taunton Train Station.  Leave the station and turn left, heading down Station Road.  (If you leave the station from the Ticket Office exit, it will be necessary to walk under the railway bridge).  Follow Station Road past Taunton Deane Council Offices and the swimming pool.  At a set of traffic lights the road will divide, go right onto Staplegrove Road passing North Town Primary School.  The road will eventually go over the railway, after a large roundabout; after this, turn left onto Bindon Road, just before John Packer's musical instrument shop.  Go all the way along this road.  At the traffic lights at the end, you will need to cross Silk Mills Road.  Nearly straight ahead is the Langford Mead estate.  After walking onto Great Western Way continue to the roundabout.  Turn left and the Somerset Heritage Centre will be visible, between Bookers and West Country Feeds.
