The Alfred Gillett Trust
The Alfred Gillett Trust holds the papers of the Clark family of Street, the C and J Clarks shoe company, and many records relating to the town of Street and to Quakers in the area.
Bath and North East Somerset Record Office
Many records relating to Bath are held at the Bath and North East Somerset Record Office, although the parish records are held at the Somerset Heritage Centre. The online catalogue for Bath and North East Somerset Record Office is integrated with our own online catalogue.
Bristol Record Office
Bristol Record Office holds records for the city and diocese of Bristol. The Bristol Corporation owned land in North Somerset, and the record office also has the papers of the Smyth family of Ashton Court, Long Ashton. Bristol Record Office has an online catalogue, although it does not currently include all of its collections.
Exeter Cathedral Archive
Exeter Cathedral Archive contains unique original records documenting the history of the Cathedral and its Dean & Chapter including the buildings, people and former estates across Devon and Cornwall (and Bampton, Oxfordshire).
The National Archives Discovery Catalogue
If you are looking for a particular collection, family or organisation, the National Register of Archives may help. This is a national online database that tells you which record offices hold which particular documents. It has now been incorporated into The National Archives' online catalogue, Discovery.
Plymouth and West Devon Record Office
The Plymouth and West Devon Record Office is the principal archive repository for Plymouth and the immediate surrounding area. It exists to collect and preserve the historical records of the area and to promote and encourage their use by all who want to study them.
Wells City Archive
Wells City Archive is a small archive based at Wells and Mendip Museum. It has a part-time archivist. The archive holds the city's administrative records, as well as other records relating to Wells.
Wells Cathedral Archive
Wells Cathedral Archive holds the records for the Dean and Chapter of Wells Cathedral. These include the cathedral's registers of baptisms, marriages and burials (Microfiche copies of these are held at the Somerset Heritage Centre). There is a part-time archivist.
